Crossing Borders in the Insular Middle Ages c.900-c.1500

I am involved in this ongoing project, rethinking the characterisation of the 'peripheries' of the British Isles (and their literatures and languages), and building a database of editions, translations and ways of mapping the movement of texts.

Representing War and Violence in the Pre-Modern World, 23rd-24th September 2013
Laura Slater (art historian, Oxford) and I organised this international, interdisciplinary conference, sponsored by the Harry F. Guggenheim foundation and hosted by Pembroke College, Cambridge. It brought together literary critics, historians and art historians, on the theme of how people narrated, debated, documented and depicted conflict in the medieval and early modern period. The keynote speakers were Richard Kaeuper, Daniel Weiss and Anne Curry; other speakers included Andrew Lynch, Andrew Hiscock, David Grummitt, Craig Taylor and Catherine Nall, alongside over forty presenters in fourteen panel sessions over two days. We are currently editing a volume of the proceedings for Boydell and Brewer.

Cambridge Centre for Material Texts inaugural conference, 5th-6th April 2010
I was a member of the organising committee for this conference, with responsibilities for managing bookings, publicity, logistics and general admin.
